I’m excitedly waiting for my new-to-me 2022 Taycan GTS to arrive in a couple of weeks! While preparing for its arrival, I want to ensure I have the right adapter to charge it using my Tesla Wall Connector. We also own a Tesla Model X Plaid, so the Tesla charger is already set up and working perfectly for that.

Here’s my situation:
  • The GTS I purchased has both the 19.2kW on-board charger and the 150kW/400V on-board charger.
  • My Wall Connector is set up on a circuit that charges the Tesla up to 48A, with a 60A breaker.
  • I’ve been considering the UMC TeslaTap 50A High Power adapter or the A2Z Stellar Plug (though it’s currently out of stock). Both seem to work, but I’m also seeing other options like TeslaTap Mini and
  • Lightning adapters rated for 80A.
  • My primary concern is ensuring compatibility with the Taycan’s charging capabilities. I doubt I’ll ever need to use the adapter at a Tesla Supercharger, it would only be for emergency use if that happened.
Does anyone have experience charging their Taycan with a Tesla Wall Connector? Which adapter would you recommend to make the most of my setup? I’d love to hear what’s worked for others!

Using a Tesla Wall Connector for your Taycan is a smart move. I’ve been using the TeslaTap 50A adapter, and it’s super reliable. Just make sure the adapter is properly seated, as some users have reported loose connections with off-brand options. If you ever need to Supercharge in a pinch, you’ll need the Magic Dock or an approved CCS adapter for compatibility, but for home use, your setup is perfect.

Congrats on the GTS! The TeslaTap 50A should work well with your setup. It’s known for good compatibility with Taycan charging.
