I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a used 2022 Taycan that I found online. Since it's located in another city, I want to do my due diligence before making the trip. I'm planning on running a Carfax report to check for any potential issues, but I'm wondering how reliable these reports really are. Does Carfax actually uncover all the important information? Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with Carfax reports when buying a used car, especially a high-end vehicle like a Taycan?

Carfax is a decent baseline, but for a Taycan, I’d say it’s just part of the process. Since it’s an EV, battery health and software version matter a lot more than just accident history. A specialized Porsche tech should check the charging cycles and overall battery capacity. Also, Taycan models can have differences in charging hardware depending on the build date, worth verifying with Porsche directly. Definitely worth a call to the selling dealer too, if they’re reputable, they’ll be transparent about its history.

Carfax is useful for basics like accidents and service history, but it doesn't catch everything. For a high-end car like a Taycan, I'd recommend getting a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) too. It's worth the extra step for peace of mind!

Agreed with everyone here. Carfax is a starting point, but not the whole picture. If you're planning to make the trip to see the car, maybe hit up the seller and ask if they'd be cool with a video call for a quick walkthrough first. That way, you can catch any red flags before making the trip. Also, don’t forget to check for any remaining warranty, Porsche warranties can be a lifesaver with repairs on a Taycan.
